I’m on vacation
My readers deserve some fun
Let’s play with haiku!
(Author’s admission:
Most of these haiku are from
two thousand nineteen)
(For those who don’t know…
Haiku: three lines; syllables:
five, seven then five.)
One more week gone, and
the proposal isn’t signed
Should I call again?
Hooray, they said yes!
Let’s review the task timeline.
Uh oh. We owe what?!
No on-site visits.
Now, we Zoom. We wear dress shirts
over pajamas.
The client requests
an extra analysis.
More work? Aaack. Scope creep.
Our report, page 12,
the client hears what they want.
Now they are happy.
Presentation done,
at last this job is finished.
Where’s the next project?
Other consultants
need a respite from their toil.
Post your clever verse.

What emerges now?
I’m on vacation.
Wait. Is that the phone ringing?
No I’m not busy.
Great one, Mark! Also apropos. Thank you for sharing your creativity and getting the ball rolling on the haiku “contest.”
Prospects uncertain.
I revise my fishing line.
I am vague no more.
Outstanding. I love that, Praveen. You’re very clever.
A “critical friend”
Must weigh well for both parties
When to be just “friend”
Wise words, Paul, poetically presented. Thanks for posting that gem.
Making outbound calls
“What’s new in your universe?”
“Would you be open?”
Well done, Will. Love the business development orientation. Now if you spoke to your prospects in haiku, that would be darn impressive! Thanks so much for joining in.
